The Holy Bible told us in Genesis, that the Canaanite people were lived from Sidon to Gerar , and from Gaza to Sodom and Gomorrah ,the eleven sons of Canaan were not occurred enough in the Bible , only five sons out of them , who had some relationships between them and the People of God, they were The Hitittes ,The Jebusites the Gergashites and the Hivites , also the Amorites ( it was a big difference between them and the Semitic A'morites [ "A" here pronounced "ain" which is a letter in the Arabic and the Hebrew alphabetic languages] .
The Bible used to record all these five nations ,using the common name Canaanites, but he recorded them sometimes , according to their private group of the Canaanite nation's name , as Hitittes or Hivites ...etc, to maintain a responsibility towards any events.
The Bible is not the only source of knowledge , in concern of those people but we found them in some historical references , their remains were discovered by the Archeologists also.
In the book of " S.Smith" , 1*" The Statue of Idrimi , 1949, pp72,73" he recorded the story of "Idrimi" the king of"Alalah" ,who has escaped to another city called "Ammia" at the seashore of Canaan, that story referred to the fifteenth century B.C .
At The letters of Tell el Amarna ( before the fourteen century B.C ) many Canaanite people were recorded .
Also in the Egyptian Papyrus which called Anastasi III A lines 5-6 , and Anastasi IV 16 line 4 (see2* "Caminos" , "Late Egyptian Miscellanies ", 1954,pp.117,200 ) where he recorded another story of a Canaanite people called "Huru" , added to that many references which assured their existence before 2400 B.C .
"Abram lived between them (Genesis 11:31) , it was clear that the "Land of Canaan" was known to him before his departing from "Haran"(Genesis 12 :5) "And Abram took Sarai his wife , and Lot his brother's son , and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran , and into the land of Canaan they came; into Canaan they came " .
The place where they named it as a land of Canaan, was Sichem ,and also the different places like Bith El ...etc, where "Abram lived (refer to the third article in this blog to learn how and why it was an usual case at that period ) and also( refer to our blog in our other site biblep.blogspot.com )to find the details of that journey .
At Genesis chapter 13 the Bible told us, about the quarrel between the herdsmen of Lot and the herdsmen of Abram, between Beth El and Ai where we found in verse 7 that the Canaanites and the perizzites ,were dwelling there , and according to what Harry Thomas Frank said in his book "An Archeological Companion to the Bible " 1971,pp33,34..etc,. that Marquet Krause have found at 1933,an old sanctuary inside the walls of the city of salem , or shalem or Jerusalem in the modern ages , it was built in two different periods of the history , the oldest one was during the Bronze age , the importance of that discovery is , when it proved that those people built their sanctuary according to the three apartment theory , to be The Holy of Holiness , The Holy , and the outer hall , as the plan of the project of the Temple during Solomon days , the distance between the Temple of Solomon and that old Temple was 10 miles, but 1500 years of age between the two ,so it revealed the secrete of the religious agreement between Abraham and those people , and explained the agreement between Abraham and Melchizedek The King of Salem, The Bible called him"he was the priest of the most high God" and that he "brought forth bread and wine " and that Abraham "gave him tithes of all " (see Genesis 14:17-23) , The New Testament also revealed that in Hebrews 7:1-10 for example at verse 4 he said "Now consider how great this man (Melchizedek) was, unto whom even the patriarch "Abraham" gave the tenth of the spoils " these verses proclaimed the religious agreement between the two persons .
It is clear that Abraham was not the only Semitic person ,who live between the Canaanites , but there were many Semitic nations also dwelt there , The Rafaim , The Zuzims and other nations ( refer to the third article of this blog to know the secret of this ) . The Bible recorded them while the events of The First Oil War In The Human History ( refer to the blogbiblep.blogspot.com ) .
Although it was agreement between the Canaanites and Abraham , he refused to mix with them through marriage relationship (Genesis 24:3 ) , he said "that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of Canaanites " , but Esau "took his wives of the daughters of Canaan "Adah" the daughter of Elon the Hitite and"Aholibamah" the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hitite " added to "Bashemath " the daughter of his uncle "Ishmael" (Genesis 36:2) .
But in spit of the sons of Jacob have kept that base , but they at the same time have disobeyed the bases of Abraham, by making peace and live with them in safe , they have killed Shechem the son of Hamor the Hitite and all of his family ,because he intended to marry their sister Dinah , while during the days of their grandfather Abraham who bought from them the cave of Machpelah (see Genesis 23:11), " Nay , my Lord ( said Ephron the Hitite ) ,hear me : the field give I to thee , and the cave that is therein , I give it thee , in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee bury thy dead " Their behavior break that base of love and peace ,which Abraham have created in the past between him and the Canaanites .
